Drawing with a Difference
Drawing. An unexpected exploration using various media / mediums that will not be the ‘pencil’ as we know it. This class is for those keen to be observing and looking – creating and sketching. It is the ‘looking’ and ‘seeing’ that allows your hand the freedom to capture as you ‘see’, with every artist ‘seeing’ uniquely. Opening your eyes with various sketch techniques, this class will explore their unique applications and results. Subject matter will range from still life and portraiture through to photographic reference material. This will give you an understanding of how the various starting points affect the final result.

Drawing / Sketching – an artform itself, is also a great tool to use when you start a painting. It can solve the dilemma of how and where to start a work, while providing a premeditated guide to finishing the painting. Reference artists such as Rita Angus who sketched rigorously prior to painting. I myself, sketch brief ‘notes’ prior to painting. Sketch time will vary in length, over the period of a class, to develop attendee’s confidence with quick renders and the recording of ideas through to longer ‘finished’ works.
