Slow Fashion, 2-Day Creations (NMIT)
There are 3 versions of this 2-day workshop. At the end of each workshop students will leave with a finished style of their choice.
All versions encourage the use of existing garments, duvet covers, old jeans, sourced fabrics, dressing gowns or fabric from you or your friends existing fabric stash to upcycle / recycle second hand into something new and 'boutique' / 'one-off' for your self or another.

Create your own style using easy production patterns (supplied ready to use) For example: In the Trouser workshop, you will select from either Lounge Pants, Wide Leg Trousers or a pair of Trackies to make and leave with the finished garment.
Guided step by step, you will learn to use the production patterns for a simplified sewing process. Cut, sew, and finish your garment with 'easy cheat' production techniques.
An easy / loose fitting style, there will be various pattern sizes to choose from to ensure all are accomodated. Fit tweaks will be made if required eg, if needed, slightly shorter in length. Uniqueness celebrated.
This workshop encourages the use of existing fabric, for example: garments, duvet covers, old jeans, sourced fabrics, dressing gowns or fabric from you or your friends existing fabric stash to upcycle / recycle into something new and 'boutique' / 'one-off' for your self or another.
Suitable for all skill levels, including beginners. For more advanced sewers you have the option of adding pockets, etc to your style. The different styling options, combined with individual fabric selection, will ensure no garment is created the same.
Have fun in this relaxed setting with like minded creatives and leave this workshop wearing your new 'boutique and one-off, unique to you, style!
NOTE: Patterns are supplied. Fabric to be supplied by students. (A few pieces will be available from Textile ResQ, note these will not be solid peices of fabric, instead various pieces that have been rescued, that will need to be patched together to create a piece to use. Please advise the tutor if this is your intention 3 days prior to class minimum).
